Mundo Dodgeball Offers One Bitcoin Prize

Coinbase and Riot Games are turning the community-created Mundo Dodgeball duel into a tournament across Europe and North America. The overall champion will receive one Bitcoin, while regional routes also award places at a New York City final and tickets to the Worlds 2026 final. The prize should remain described in Bitcoin because its cash value changes. This is a formal competition built around a custom-game tradition, not a new mode added to the League client.

Two tracks run in each region. Open qualifiers give eligible community players a route into the event, while separate Creator Cups feature invited personalities such as Alois_NL, MrSchimchim, Pobelter, Skyyart and Tyler1. Professional players are not eligible. The European and North American open champions advance to New York, and the top two finishers from each regional Creator Cup join them. Each of those qualifiers also receives two tickets to the Worlds final.

The duel reduces League to one skill shot

Both competitors select Dr. Mundo and stand on opposite sides of the Baron Nashor pit. Two wards create a makeshift dividing line. Players attack only with Infected Bonesaw, the champion’s Q, turning aim, movement and anticipation into the entire contest. Equipment is restricted to boots and a control ward, and each competitor receives one Flash per game. Runes and cosmetic choices remain open, so the rules limit combat tools without making every setup identical.

That structure is why the event can work as a spectator duel without imitating a standard match. There are no lanes to manage, team objectives to trade or five-player drafts to interpret. One projectile and one dodge carry the action. Calling it an official game mode would still be inaccurate: the format grew from custom games, and the tournament organizers are formalizing its rule set for this event rather than announcing permanent matchmaking support.

Regional paths meet at the New York final

Ordinary matches use a best-of-three format. Semifinals and finals expand to best-of-five, increasing the number of successful reads required as the bracket reaches its decisive rounds. The distinction applies to series length, not individual League games, and it gives a player more opportunity to adjust after learning an opponent’s movement pattern.

The open and creator paths do not award the same number of regional positions. One open-qualifier winner from Europe and one from North America advance. The Creator Cups send their top two finishers from each region. Together, those routes bring community qualifiers and invited creators into the same New York destination without claiming that the initial brackets are open to professional players.

The Worlds tickets are a separate reward from the cryptocurrency prize. Qualifiers reaching New York receive two tickets to the Worlds final, while one Bitcoin belongs to the overall tournament champion. A competitor can therefore earn the event trip and ticket benefit before the final prize is decided. The sources do not support converting that Bitcoin into a guaranteed dollar or euro amount, because market value can move before the award.

Eligibility also has geographic limits. The announced competition covers Europe and North America, and registration is governed by the published rules. Describing it as open to everyone worldwide would erase those conditions. Interested players should treat the official registration page as the authority on residency, age and entry requirements rather than inferring access from the presence of an open bracket.
