Team Liquid Beat Cloud9 to Reach LCS Final

Team Liquid Alienware reached the LCS 2026 Summer grand final by defeating Cloud9 Kia 3-1 on September 27. Liquid established a 2-0 lead, absorbed a fast Cloud9 response and then won a 47-minute fourth game to finish the series. Morgan was named player of the series after contributing on Rumble, Camille, Renekton and Ambessa. Cloud9 are not eliminated; they move into the lower-bracket final with another route to the title.
The result changes each team’s route without settling the championship. Liquid have secured a place in the final, but they have not won it. Cloud9 have lost the advantage that came with reaching the upper-bracket final, yet one more series can still return them to the title match. That distinction matters because a 3-1 loss at this stage is a bracket demotion, not the end of Cloud9’s Summer campaign.

Liquid built the lead through two clear wins
Game one lasted 31 minutes and ended with Liquid ahead 19-8 in kills, 10-2 in towers and 69.3k to 58.1k in gold. Morgan’s Rumble finished 6/1/5, while Quid produced a deathless 5/0/7 Viktor line. Liquid accelerated further in game two. The 26-minute win carried a 19-2 kill score, a 9-2 tower advantage and 57.5k gold against Cloud9’s 46.4k. Morgan went 5/0/6 on Camille, and Yeon’s Ziggs closed at 6/0/8.
Cloud9 prevented a sweep with a 22-minute third game. Their 15-8 kill advantage, 7-2 tower score and 48.9k to 40.5k gold lead showed a complete change in pace. Blaber’s Naafiri finished 5/2/6 and Vulcan’s Neeko went 1/0/11. The response forced Liquid into a longer and less comfortable close rather than allowing the series to end through the same pattern as the first two games.
The fourth game tested Liquid differently
The decider lasted 47 minutes and did not give Liquid the cleaner statistical profile seen earlier. Cloud9 actually led 18-17 in kills, and the final gold totals were close at 91.4k for Liquid and 89.1k for Cloud9. Liquid nevertheless held a 9-7 tower advantage and converted the position into the final nexus. That finish is useful evidence because it shows a win without the large early margin of games one and two.
Morgan ended the fourth game at 5/3/9 on Ambessa after using three different top-lane champions in the earlier games. His series award fits the verified game lines: 6/1/5 on Rumble, 5/0/6 on Camille, 3/3/3 on Renekton in the loss and 5/3/9 in the close. The award does not mean every game was controlled from top lane, but it records sustained contribution across changing drafts.
Liquid’s support and jungle also mattered in the long finish. Josedeodo produced 6/1/7 on Pantheon, while CoreJJ’s Seraphine recorded 16 assists. Cloud9 received a strong 7/2/10 Skarner performance from Blaber and seven kills from Loki’s Aurora. Those numbers explain why the game remained competitive even though Liquid ultimately completed the series.
Cloud9’s next status should be read carefully. The team still has a lower-bracket final, so the 3-1 result does not remove it from the playoffs. A win there would create another meeting with the upper-bracket winner in the grand final. A loss would end the domestic run. No opponent or final outcome should be inferred from this series alone.
Liquid now receive the structural reward of the upper bracket: direct passage into the title series. The team can prepare while the remaining opponent must survive another elimination match. That advantage is separate from the score carried into the final; the next best-of-five begins at 0-0.
The four games therefore show two kinds of success. Liquid could create decisive advantages in the first half of the series, then close a much tighter contest after Cloud9 reset the momentum. The championship remains undecided, but Liquid’s place in the match that decides it is confirmed.
- Liquid won the first two games with a combined 38-10 kill score.
- Cloud9 answered with a 22-minute win in game three.
- The fourth game lasted 47 minutes and ended despite Cloud9 leading in kills.
- Liquid advanced to the grand final while Cloud9 moved to the lower bracket.

| Game | Winner | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| One | Team Liquid | 31 minutes |
| Two | Team Liquid | 26 minutes |
| Three | Cloud9 | 22 minutes |
| Four | Team Liquid | 47 minutes |
Team Liquid earned the grand-final berth through two dominant wins and one difficult close. Morgan’s four different picks and verified score lines support his series award. Cloud9 now have to use the lower bracket if they want a rematch for the title.
