Solary Beat KOI Fenix to Reach WSCI Semis

Solary advanced to the World Star Challengers Invitational semifinals by defeating Movistar KOI Fenix 3-1 on September 27. The French team won the first two games, lost the third and closed the quarterfinal in game four. KOI Fenix are eliminated. Solary’s next opponent will be the winner of Dplus Kia Challengers versus DN SOOPers Challengers, a matchup that had not been decided when the result was recorded.

The quarterfinal used Patch 26.18 and best-of-five Fearless Draft, preventing repeated champion picks within a team as the series developed. Solary therefore needed new combinations across every game rather than returning to the same successful draft. The 3-1 score shows that the adjustment survived KOI Fenix’s game-three response. It does not establish the identity or result of the semifinal, and the next Korean challenger team must still be determined on the other side of the bracket.

Three forceful wins surrounded one setback

Solary opened with the most kill-heavy win of the quarterfinal, taking game one in 25:22 with 33 kills, 10 towers and 60.2k gold. KOI Fenix had 14 kills, no towers and 46.4k. Game two lasted 23:06 and produced an 18-6 Solary kill score with an 11-1 tower advantage. The first two games combined pace with structure control, leaving KOI Fenix one loss from elimination before the midpoint of the series.

KOI Fenix answered in game three, winning in 25:42 with 20 kills and 7 towers to Solary’s 11 kills and 3 towers. Solary did not allow that result to extend the quarterfinal. Game four ended in 24:46 with Solary ahead 24-7 in kills, 11-1 in towers and 55.6k to 41.7k in gold. The close resembled the structural control of game two and removed the need for a deciding fifth draft.

Fearless Draft widened Solary’s options

Kryze’s champion sequence illustrates the format. He used Gnar, Dr. Mundo, Zaahen and Varus across the four games and completed the series at 19/4/24. The low death total stands out beside the required champion changes. It shows consistent production through different roles in the composition without implying that the same lane plan was repeated four times.

Solary’s other carries also accumulated substantial totals. Jool finished 21/13/25, while Aetinoth recorded 26/14/30. Zicssi ended at 17/13/32 from the jungle. These series lines support a shared offensive contribution, but their meaning should be read with the game order: the numbers include the game-three loss as well as three victories.

The tower counts make the separation between wins and defeat especially clear. Solary took 10, 11 and 11 towers in its victories. In the game it lost, the team managed only 3 while KOI Fenix reached 7. That relationship suggests the successful games were not based only on fighting totals. Solary repeatedly converted advantages into access to the base.

Fearless Draft adds another reason not to project one game directly onto the semifinal. Champions already used by a team cannot simply be recycled later in the same series. Solary’s preparation will be tested again against a different opponent with a fresh champion sequence. The quarterfinal demonstrates breadth, but the next best-of-five begins without a result carried over.

The bracket currently provides two possible opponents: Dplus Kia Challengers or DN SOOPers Challengers. Naming either as confirmed would be premature until their quarterfinal finishes. Solary have secured only their side of the semifinal pairing. KOI Fenix, by contrast, have no remaining route in this edition after the 3-1 loss.

The useful takeaway is that Solary handled three separate competitive moments. They established a 2-0 lead, avoided panic after losing game three and restored control in the fourth. That sequence is stronger evidence of series management than the final score by itself, while still stopping short of predicting the semifinal.

  • Solary opened with 33 kills and 10 towers in game one.
  • An 18-6 game-two kill score moved the series to 2-0.
  • KOI Fenix won game three and extended the quarterfinal.
  • Solary closed game four 24-7 in kills and 11-1 in towers.

Solary won three games with clear kill and tower advantages to remove KOI Fenix from WSCI. The one defeat tested their response without forcing a fifth game. A semifinal place is confirmed; the opponent and the next result remain undecided.
