Shopify Reverse Sweep Eliminates Sentinels

Shopify Rebellion recovered from a 0-2 deficit to defeat Sentinels 3-2 in the first round of the LCS Summer lower bracket. The September 18 best-of-five eliminated Sentinels and kept Shopify alive in the postseason. It was not a repeat of the teams’ August 10 regular-season meeting, which Shopify won 2-1. This series carried elimination stakes and required three consecutive Shopify wins after Sentinels controlled the opening pair.

The turnaround developed across five distinct games. Sentinels won the opener from red side in 27 minutes and added game two from blue side in 30 minutes. Shopify answered from red side in a 30-minute third game, then won from blue side in 32 minutes to force the decider. The final game lasted 35 minutes, again with Shopify on blue side. Listing the sequence matters because the final 3-2 score alone does not show that Sentinels reached match point before Shopify began its comeback.

Three wins changed the elimination series

Shopify entered game three with no remaining margin. Its first win stopped the sweep, but the fourth game was the point at which the series became level and Sentinels lost the protection of an early lead. Shopify then completed the reverse sweep in the longest game of the match. Shopify survive, but Worlds is not secured

The bracket consequence is survival, not qualification. Shopify advanced to face FlyQuest on September 25, while Sentinels’ Summer playoff run ended. The top three LCS finishers reach Worlds, and the fourth- and fifth-place teams receive Demacia Cup positions. Shopify still has to progress through the lower bracket before its final destination is known. Saying the reverse sweep sent the team to Worlds would skip matches that have not happened.

That distinction also separates the report from Shopify’s earlier victory over Sentinels. The August 10 match was a 2-1 regular-season result. The new event was a best-of-five in the lower bracket, with Sentinels two wins ahead before Shopify reversed the series and ended their season. Same opponents do not make the subject a duplicate when the competition stage, score and consequence have changed.

For Sentinels, the opening games showed that a series lead can coexist with a losing final result. They won on both red and blue sides and reached match point after 57 total minutes of play across the first two games. Shopify then spent 97 minutes across the next three wins to complete the comeback. Those totals organize the verified durations; they do not measure pauses, drafting time or every swing inside the games.

For Shopify, the next test is narrower and immediate. FlyQuest stands between the team and further lower-bracket progress. The reverse sweep demonstrates recovery under elimination pressure, but it does not predict the next score.
