LGD defeat EDward Gaming in two controlled LPL games

LGD defeated EDward Gaming 2-0 in the LPL Group Ascend. The winners took both games without requiring a deciding draft. Their kill totals reached 24 in the opener and 20 in the second game.
EDward Gaming recorded 11 kills in each loss. The first game also showed a clear difference in structures and major objectives. LGD completed the series before EDG could establish a longer response.
LGD build the opening win through objectives
The first game ended with LGD ahead by thirteen kills. That advantage was supported by nine destroyed towers. EDward Gaming removed three towers before their base fell.
LGD also secured four dragons and two Barons during the opener. EDG answered with two dragons and one Baron. The split shows that both teams reached major objectives, but LGD converted more of them.
The winners finished the first game with roughly eleven thousand more gold. That margin grew alongside their tower advantage. It gave LGD better access to the final parts of the map.
EDG still secured one Baron and two Mountain Dragons. Those captures delayed a complete objective sweep. LGD retained control because their lead covered kills, gold and structures together.
The second game keeps the same winner
LGD entered the next draft one game from the series victory. They added twenty kills during the second game. EDG again finished with eleven.
The repeated EDG total did not produce the same match position. LGD had already shown stronger conversion after fights in the opener. Another winning game ended the best-of-three series.

A two-game victory also limited the time available for a broader comeback. EDG could not reach a third draft or change the map order again. LGD completed both required wins in sequence.
The final score describes the series clearly without hiding the separate games. The first was built around a large objective and tower margin. The second preserved enough control to close the match.
Experienced players appear on both sides
LGD’s listed starters included Burdol, Heng and Crisp. EDward Gaming’s group included xiaohao, BuLLDoG and Leave. Both teams therefore entered with players who have substantial domestic experience.
The names alone did not decide the result. LGD produced the better combined game on the day. Their first-game objective record gives the clearest evidence of that difference.
| Series | LGD 2-0 EDward Gaming |
|---|---|
| Competition | LPL Group Ascend |
| Game one kills | 24-11 |
| Game two kills | 20-11 |
EDG’s lineup found kills in both games but could not turn them into a map win. LGD paired eliminations with towers and neutral objectives. That conversion separated the teams more clearly than one statistic alone.
The result extends LGD’s recent edge
LGD also beat EDward Gaming 2-0 when the teams met in April. The new result repeats that series score in a different group phase. It gives LGD consecutive head-to-head wins this year.
Their earlier history remains more mixed. EDG won a three-game meeting in the Demacia Cup. The teams also exchanged victories during the previous LPL season.
LGD won the first league meeting between the teams this year. EDG had taken the preceding Demacia Cup series. The change in winner shows why each completed match needs its own record.
The latest match should therefore be read as a current result, not a permanent rule. LGD were better across these two games. The next meeting would begin with a new draft and another match state.

For the present standings, only the completed Group Ascend series matters. LGD add a match win and two game wins. EDG receive one match loss and no game victory from this fixture.
Two games define the complete series
The opener provided the most detailed separation. LGD led in gold, towers, dragons and Barons. Their kill advantage supported every part of that map.
Game two produced fewer LGD kills but the same eleven for EDG. LGD still reached the required second victory. The final match score remained 2-0.
A short series can still include different routes to victory. LGD used a broad resource advantage first, then completed the next game with another positive kill margin. EDG did not force the deciding map.
Across the series, LGD recorded twenty-two more kills than EDG. That total came from two separate advantages of thirteen and nine. Both games therefore ended with the same team ahead in eliminations.
The result places LGD ahead in this Group Ascend meeting. It also gives them a second straight series win over EDG during 2026. Their next league fixture will be recorded separately.
EDG’s single Baron in the opener gave them one chance to extend the game. LGD still retained the larger tower and gold leads, then converted those advantages into the first nexus.
The second victory removed any need to revisit the first game’s objective balance. LGD had already secured the match. EDG’s next opportunity to respond will come against a different opponent.
