LEC Summer playoffs set Worlds race

Europe’s LEC Summer 2026 title race is down to Karmine Corp, Movistar KOI, G2 Esports, Team Vitality, GIANTX and NAVI. The playoff phase runs from Sept. 5 through Sept. 20 and carries two prizes at once: the regional crown and qualification for the League of Legends World Championship 2026. Only the teams that finish in the top three will move on to Worlds, making the final standings especially important for every remaining contender.

Karmine Corp arrive with the strongest Summer regular-season record, having completed the stage without a loss. Team Vitality took second place, while G2 Esports finished third after losing to Karmine Corp, Fnatic and GIANTX during the Summer campaign. G2 nevertheless brought notable 2026 international results into the regional season, including a top-two finish at the First Stand Tournament and a top-four placement at MSI 2026. Movistar KOI entered the postseason after five losses, following third-place finishes in both LEC 2026 Versus and LEC 2026 Spring. The remaining sides add a different kind of pressure to the bracket. GIANTX earned regular-season wins over G2 and Fnatic, and NAVI collected key victories against Fnatic and GIANTX. With six teams still eligible for three Worlds places, regular-season form supplies context but does not settle the playoff outcome.

Three weekends take the playoffs across Europe

The playoff road is spread across Madrid, Berlin and Nice rather than being held in one venue. Madrid, Spain opens the event with the upper semifinals and upper final. The bracket then goes to the Riot Games Studio in Berlin, Germany for two elimination quarterfinals, also described as lower-bracket round 1. Nice, France hosts the regional-finals portion, starting with the elimination semifinal and ending with the elimination final and grand final. That sequence gives the postseason a clear geographic and competitive route. Upper-bracket matches begin the journey in Madrid, elimination pressure takes over in Berlin, and the final rounds in Nice determine both the Summer champion and Europe’s Worlds representatives. The confirmed schedule is divided as follows:

• Sept. 5-6: Madrid stages the upper semifinals and upper final. • Sept. 11-12: The Riot Games Studio in Berlin hosts the elimination quarterfinals, or lower-bracket round 1. • Sept. 18-20: Nice holds the elimination semifinal, elimination final and grand final. GIANTX are confirmed in the upper bracket after a Summer in which they beat G2 and Fnatic. The organization also signed two new players in June. NAVI returned to League of Legends esports in 2025 and reached the top six in the previous LEC seasons of 2026; its Summer wins over Fnatic and GIANTX provide relevant background before the playoff games. Team Vitality, meanwhile, enter after second place in the regional season, while Karmine Corp’s unbeaten run places them at the head of the regular-season picture. These routes create varied starting points, but the same qualification line applies to all six teams.

Top three finishers reach Worlds 2026

The decisive number in the LEC Summer playoffs is three. A top-three finish qualifies a team for Worlds 2026, scheduled in the United States from Oct. 15 to Nov. 14. The playoff field is therefore competing for more than the European title: three teams will secure a place at the year’s biggest League of Legends event.
