About Wei
Wei, whose real name is Yan Yang-Wei, is a Chinese jungler competing in the LPL for Invictus Gaming. At 23, he combines several years of professional experience with the aggressive, tempo-driven style that has come to define successful junglers in the Chinese league.
Commanding the Neutral Zones
The jungle is a role of constant movement and calculated risk. Instead of committing to a lane, the jungler carves a path through the neutral monster camps and looks for openings to influence the map, whether by ganking a vulnerable opponent, countering the enemy jungler, or securing the objectives that dictate the pace of the game. A strong jungler dictates tempo, deciding when his team accelerates and when it plays for control, and often serves as a primary voice in coordinating the team’s movements.
Anchoring Invictus Gaming
Invictus Gaming is one of the most celebrated organizations in League of Legends history, a name that carries enormous weight within China and abroad. Playing jungle for such a storied team means operating in an environment where fans and management expect deep runs and marquee performances. The LPL’s fast, skirmish-heavy identity places particular demands on junglers, who must be proactive and mechanically sharp to keep pace with the league’s relentless aggression.
With several seasons of top-level play behind him, Wei has developed into an experienced presence rather than a raw prospect. Junglers who reach their early twenties in the LPL have typically refined their pathing and shot-calling to a high degree, and Wei is expected to bring that maturity to the heart of the Invictus roster.
Going forward, Wei’s impact will hinge on how effectively he can steer Invictus Gaming’s early game and set up his carries for success. If he can consistently generate leads through the jungle, he gives one of China’s most iconic franchises a genuine engine to build around in its pursuit of silverware.
