Doctrine Written in Sunlight
Mount Targon does not belong entirely to any one order, but the Solari have claimed its most visible face. Their doctrine treats the sun as the source of order itself, casts light as a moral force rather than just a natural one, and treats anything associated with the moon as a corruption to be kept out, its followers, its symbols, and its old claims to the mountain alike.
Leona, the Radiant Dawn, reads almost like the order’s doctrine given a body, armor and purpose built entirely around solar radiance, standing as a shield against whatever the dark tries to reclaim from higher up the slope.
What the Ban Costs
A faith built around excluding half the sky inevitably creates casualties, and Targon’s champions show what that exclusion produces. Diana, Scorn of the Moon, exists specifically because the Solari’s ban left no room for her, a title that reads as a direct rebuke of the order’s core doctrine rather than a coincidence of naming. Pantheon, the Unbreakable Spear, and Taric, the Shield of Valoran, both carry the mountain’s cosmic weight into battle without needing the Solari’s sanction to do so, a reminder that Targon’s power was never solely theirs to grant in the first place. Even Aurelion Sol, the Star Forger, and Zoe, the Aspect of Twilight, answer to a scale of cosmic authority the Solari can venerate but never fully contain or claim credit for.
The order’s certainty about light and order is, in that sense, both its greatest strength and its narrowest blind spot: a doctrine confident enough to organize an entire faith around, but rigid enough to manufacture its own opposition simply by insisting half the sky does not count. Every generation the Solari hold the mountain, that same insistence keeps giving the excluded half a reason to endure, and Targon’s history has yet to run out of reasons of its own.
