Preparation time is the deciding variable. Rampant Growth seeds persist for up to 60 seconds, so a Zyra expecting a fight at an objective already has plants ready when Dragon’s Descent lands. Shyvana’s damage is physical and tied to sustained output through Emberstrike recasts, which forces her to stay inside the area that Deadly Spines and the plants are punishing. Stranglethorns knocks enemies airborne as it contracts and interrupts that rhythm at the worst possible moment for her.

Durability still favours Shyvana on paper: 625 starting health and 35 armor against 574 and 29, plus Scalemail stacks from takedowns that improve her defenses as the game goes on. The answer is not out-tanking her but denying entry — Grasping Roots stops the approach, and 575 attack range against her 150 buys several seconds of free output before she arrives.
